We welcome submissions of photos for possible use in the Washington College Magazine. We are particularly interested in quality photos of alumni and friends participating in alumni activities and alumni-related events. We also try to print every wedding picture and baby picture we receive, as long as the photo quality is passable, because we know these are the pictures you turn to first.
Because of space limitations, though, we cannot publish every photo we receive, and we're more likely to eliminate a poor-quality photo than a good one. Here are some guidelines that influence the photo choices we make:
We like to receive digital photos because it saves us from having to scan printed photos. But here's the catch: the resolution has to be high enough for us to publish. What looks good on your computer screen might look grainy in the magazine. For publication purposes, the resolution should be at least 300 dpi at a canvas size of about 3x5. Please save the photo as a jpeg file—it's easier to e-mail than a tiff file.
Send photos by mail to Class Notes Editor, Alumni House, Washington College, 300 Washington Avenue, Chestertown, MD 21620, or by e-mail attachment to classnotes@washcoll.edu.
