Flip That House

With age, the Alumni House on the corner of Washington and Campus Avenues has taken on the patina of a fraternity house—with plumbing problems.

With the help of generous alumni and friends, Washington College's Alumni House will be transformed from faded to fabulous. An anonymous Board member has issued a $150,000 challenge grant to repair structural defects, install a caterer's kitchen, provide compelling outdoor signage, and create a welcoming interior with new paint and furnishings. We're planning the " reveal" for Reunion Weekend 2008. Tune in to WCAlumNet over the coming months and watch your house undergo the renovation and cosmetic work that will make it a place you'll be proud to call home.

We hope that several reunion classes will take up this challenge and include both the Alumni House Challenge and The Washington Fund in their class gift campaigns. Other alumni are invited to participate in this special effort as well.

For more information, contact the College Advancement Office at 1-800-422-1782, ext. 7801, or visit wcalumnet.com/alumni.house/.

It's a good thing alumni already love Washington College, because first impressions of the Alumni House—faded furnishings and an obvious lack of storage space—are less than positive. Still, with a little paint and polish, this house could be a dream house.
