In Memoriam

Robert Fleetwood Sr. '33 died May 4, 2006 at his home in Chestertown. During his years at WC, he played with the orchestra and jazz band and ran track. In 1935 he began his teaching career at Chestertown High School where he taught mathematics and chemistry. He was a beloved coach and mentor to many students.

In 1946, Bob opened the Kirby-Fleetwood Insurance Company, which became known as FAM&M. His grandson, Creg '03, is currently an agent. He was one of the original members of the Kent County Community Marching Band, playing the trumpet and marching with the band into his 80s; he also played Taps at many funerals. Bob was president of the Chestertown Chamber of Commerce, a board member of the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company, and a board member of Chester River Yacht and Country Club. He was a self-taught oil painter of local landscapes, portraits and still lifes, and the golf professional at Chester River Yacht & Country Club in 1949. He is predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Helen Claire Cregar Fleetwood '44.

Albert P. "Gerry" Giraitis, Sr. '34 died January 5, 2006 in St. Petersburg, FL. Gerry retired from the Ethyl Corporation after 25 years as an organic chemist. He had more patents on chemical processes than anyone else with the company. He was a member of the Philosophical Society and the Unitarian Church in Panama City, FL. He is predeceased by his brother, Stanley '30, and wife, Marion Emmord Giraitis '34.

Isabelle Cooke Daniels '53 died May 5, 2006 in Fredericksburg, VA, from complications following surgery. "Ish" graduated with a degree in chemistry and went on to earn a master's in education from George Washington University. A longtime teacher, she was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, George F. Daniels '54.

Jesse E. Klosiewicz '53 died May 8, 2006 in Wilmington, DE. Jesse taught biology at William Penn High School and coached cross-country, track and golf at De La Warr High School, where he also coordinated the annual talent show. He was a member of the Delaware Knights of Magic, Pike Creek Lions Club, the Wilmington Wine Guild and the Tuesday Night Poetry Club.

Herbert D. Lynch '47 died March 5, 2006. Mr. Lynch was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart. He was a supervisor for 32 years for DuPont and a member of the First United Methodist Church. An avid golfer, Mr. Lynch had made four holes in one.

Bolling Barton "Bo" Willse, Jr. '04 died February 23, 2006 in a private plane crash near Austin, CO. Bo earned his degree in sociology and had been a salesman for Mercantile Mortgage Corp. in Baltimore.
