The first Saturday in April offered typical lacrosse weather: cold, rainy and blowing a gale. But that didn't dampen the enthusiasm of players and fans on hand for the two biggest conference games of the season and the dedication of Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium.
The prospect of this new facility resonated with friends old and new and alumni spanning several decades, including John R. Kelly '87 and family, who donated the scoreboard, the Class of 1955, who contributed $55,000, and John Moag '77, who brokered the deal for the new turf. Don Chatellier was excited to learn that several former athletes made a team effort to name the "Chatty Track." With his gift, Roy Kirby, Jr. demonstrated the importance of giving back; Jean Merrick Maddux '82, lent her support. All told, alumni and friends surpassed the $2 million goal by $300,000.
